Local Schools: Half-Term “Forest Schools” Project Launches on the Chase

A new “Forest School” pilot project has launched today for local primary school students during the half-term break. The initiative, supported by the Local Nature Recovery Strategy, takes children out onto Cannock Chase to learn about conservation, fire safety, and woodcraft. Organizers say the goal is to reconnect the younger generation with the heritage of the Chase while promoting mental wellbeing through outdoor play. The project is currently being trialed with a small group of schools from Rugeley and Cannock, with plans to expand to a full-time program if funding is secured in the next council budget.
