The Friends of Hednesford Park have issued an urgent safety notice this Sunday following a drop in overnight temperatures that has left a layer of ice on the main pond. Despite the sun, the ice is “paper-thin” and incapable of supporting weight. Volunteers reported seeing several children and dogs straying dangerously close to the water edge this morning. Parents are being asked to keep a firm grip on children, and dog owners are advised to use leads. The warning also extends to “black ice” on higher elevations that has not yet thawed.
