Election U-Turn: Cannock Chase to Go to the Polls This May

In a major reversal, the Government has abandoned plans to postpone local elections in Cannock Chase. Originally, the polls were set to be delayed until 2028 to facilitate local government reorganisation. However, following a legal challenge, Local Government Secretary Steve Reed confirmed that the decision has been withdrawn. This means Cannock residents will now be heading to the polling stations this May as originally planned. Local parties are already scrambling to ramp up their campaigns following this week’s “humiliating” U-turn for the Ministry.
