Following a successful community-led petition, local authorities have confirmed that the Longford Park play area in Cannock will receive a £85,000 refurbishment this summer. The funding, secured through a mix of Section 106 developer contributions and community grants, will see the installation of all-new accessible equipment and improved safety surfacing. Residents have campaigned for the upgrades for over 18 months, citing the aging equipment as a safety concern. Work is expected to begin in June, with the goal of having the park fully operational for the school summer holidays. A local volunteer group has also pledged to help with a “community garden” section adjacent to the new play equipment.
