Education leaders across Cannock Chase have expressed concern this evening over the latest local authority funding allocations for the next academic year. While Staffordshire County Council has increased the overall education budget, several local primary schools have warned that the rise does not cover the “inflationary spike” in heating large older buildings and the increased cost of specialized support staff. A spokesperson for a local academy trust stated that without further targeted intervention, some extracurricular activities and maintenance projects may have to be scaled back. The Council has responded by pointing toward the new “Energy Efficiency Grant” available for schools to install solar panels and improved insulation.
