Staffordshire Police have issued a “Smart Alert” for our area. We’re still seeing a rise in vehicle thefts and break-ins across Cannock Chase. Most of these are opportunistic, meaning thieves are looking for easy wins like unlocked doors or bags left on seats.
Don’t make it easy for them. Here is your quick checklist:
- 🔒 Lock it or Lose it: Even on your own drive, even for a minute. Double-check those windows!
- 🎒 Hide the Loot: If they can see a bag, a coat, or even a charging cable, they’ll break the glass to check.
- 📡 Keyless Entry? Get a Faraday pouch. It stops thieves from “cloning” your signal from outside your front door.
- 🛡️ Old School Works: Steering locks and wheel clamps are huge deterrents.
- 👀 Report it: See someone scouting the street? Call 101. See a crime happening? 999.
